If the Spirit is the source of our life, we must also allow the Spirit to direct every aspect of our lives. So may we never be arrogant, or look down on another, for each of us is an original. We must forsake all jealousy that diminishes the value of others.
Galatians 5:25-26 TPT
Have you ever looked at the life of someone else and wondered what is it about that person that makes their life so stinking difficult? Have you wondered if maybe they have done something that has caused such grief?
Our minds wonder down paths so quickly that often we can wonder what we were thinking! Especially when we learn we were so very wrong!
The other day I walked into a restaurant that had a bar. A couple walked in before me and the woman was walking very unsteadily and to me, she was obviously very inebriated. As she sat at the bar, I figured the bartender would certainly refuse to serve her. She ordered water to my surprise.
Turns out she was not drunk at all but instead had Parkinson’s and her unsteady walk was a humbling moment for me. How could I have missed that!
Her struggle to walk and her willingness to go out in public knowing that people like me jumped to idiotic conclusions made her very self conscious, I learned as I spoke to her and her husband.
God says we are each an original. His plan for each of us is ours and no one else’s. What I struggle with, or my new friend with Parkinson’s struggles with, does not necessarily apply to any other human.
My ability to see another in this light is a challenge at times. I jump to conclusions that diminishes the value of another person. Ugh. Hate it when that happens.
Lesson learned! Doing better after making another bone headed mistake!
Praying today that God will close my eyes and open my heart for these moments.
