Unpleasant promises - blessings anyway

In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 2 Timothy 3:12

Blessed is the man that preservers through trials. Because he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God promises to those that love him. James 1:15

The concept of persecution is unpleasant. No man wants to look into his day or his tomorrow and desire the pain of persecution.

Pain contains a promise. We don't enjoy the pain, we desperately look for the promise of the blessing that results. Rejoice in the promise that is given for our pains. Pain matures us. It increases our wisdom. It forces more sympathy toward others. It turns our eyes upward. Learn to run to God when in pain. Not away from him. Look at life through the eyes of eternity - don't focus on today's pain. Comfort and security does not matter to God. Resolve to bring glory to God regardless of circumstances. Redeem your pain by serving others. Rest well knowing today's pain and persecution will result in blessings soon enough.
