Uncensored emotion can spell trouble - or freedom.

As a child in a home of four brothers, displays of emotion were not abundant for me.  Emotions became suppressed as these were for girls - not boys.  To display emotion was to display weakness.  No brother displays weakness in order to avoid the ramifications that brothers freely dish out.  As a man, I have found that this way of living must change.

Emotions are a direct reaction to our surroundings.  They are a window into your soul.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

2 Cor 3:17

For a man to be mature enough to be in tune with his emotions and uninhibited in expressing them is to mirror the manner of Jesus.

Jesus explained that "unless we change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  As so, the one who makes himself as little as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."  Matt 18:3-4

Jesus was speaking of how we humble ourselves is vital to our joining him in his ways.

Yet, in this world, we are daily pushed to shrewd moves and counter moves, thinking before we speak and developing a radar for persons and situations that we must protect ourselves from.  We become our own expert to be consulted before we can make a judgment.  This does not sound much like how a child conducts himself.

A child expresses emotion freely without thought of the consequences.  Yet, it is the consequences that close our willingness to share ourselves, our thoughts, our emotions.

When you look into a child's eyes, you see innocence.  When you look into a man's eyes, first you are probably deemed weird, second, you are not welcome in that space as most men protect themselves by not showing what is inside.

If we close our eyes and picture Jesus - then look into the eyes of Jesus, we see a tenderness that is peaceful, merciful and loving.  Much like innocence seen in the eyes of a child.

The only fix for a man is to have the freedom that is found in the Spirit of the Lord living and active in your heart - at all times.  This is called "ABIDING".
