So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly. Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.
Matthew 6:33-34 TPT
It’s a great thing to read this verse first thing on a Monday morning as the work week begins to churn and the calendar looks over whelming. Spending some time on God’s kingdom requires pushing all these other distractions aside and opening your heart to what God wants to say today.
It might mean stopping the noise of the world long enough to make a few journal entries from playing Bible roulette and focusing on the pages that open up for reading. Or it might just mean finding some time just to glorify God, worship and pray for things that we often forget to even think about (including the “I will pray for you” commitments made in the last week).
Whatever it looks like, the key here is doing it. Today and again tomorrow - we need to seek first God’s Kingdom before all other matters. We know these other things consume us and eat away at the attention that God demands from us. God’s demands are easy to meet. But we rarely do what it takes to honor this simple truth. Start right now and practice doing this.
Today’s challenge is enough for the remainder of our day. God first. Today’s world second.
Tomorrow we can deal with tomorrow. After we repeat today’s challenge to seek God’s Kingdom.
Repeating this day after day will provide the abundance we dream of. It’s a promise that is better than any promise or opportunity that lies in front of us.
