Sin is a dethroned monarch; so you must no longer give it an opportunity to rule over your life, controlling how you live and compelling you to obey its desires and cravings. So then, refuse to answer its call to surrender your body as a tool for wickedness. Instead, passionately answer God’s call to keep yielding your body to him as one who has now experienced resurrection life! You live now for his pleasure, ready to be used for his noble purpose. Remember this: sin will not conquer you, for God already has! You are not governed by law but governed by the reign of the grace of God.
Romans 6:12-14 TPT
Since the beginning of man, the battle against sin is daily (and often, hourly) battle. Each morning, a man must win the battle by recognizing the FACT that God controls the day and God will bless a man for his obedience to God’s noble purpose.
Sin, by means of the commandment, built a base of operation within me, to overpower me and put me to death.
Romans 7:11 TPT
Sin works it’s way into the depth of our souls and it overpowers us. This verse says it well when it talks about sin that forms a “base of operation within me.”
Once this base of operation is formed, it provides a portal for the entry of all sorts of evil. As a result, we are controlled by this evil in spite of our good intentions and our words that talk about God and the law. What we say and what lives inside us is no longer the same.
Refuse to answer the call of sin. Make it the priority of the day. Every man has this battle. Although the particular sin may vary in a man’s day, it is the same issue. Some of us have a higher mountain than our friends. Addictions, for example, offer a more difficult battle ground. The battle is only won, regardless of the fight, with the ONLY weapon at our disposal. We are only given one tool to fight with. It’s the Word of God. Use it often when the battle rages and when it doesn’t so you may be prepared for what is coming.
I have a friend that years ago starting talking of divorce. Although he quoted scripture often and mentored men in Christ living, his words of divorce kept crossing his lips with more and more regularity. It was obvious what was happening as the evil formed it’s base of operation and started to overcome his will to follow Christ. His ears closed as his eyes were covered with the spirits that were at work in him for evil. It was devastating to see a man, so passionate for Christ be sucked into the pit. He could not see what was happening and he would not listen to those that warned him.
What was a hidden sin built a base of operation inside him and then became an obvious sin to the world as his divorce was filed and pursued as the evil one won the battle.
These examples of sin forming its base of operation inside not just you, but those around us, regardless of the words of genuine faith that we are trained to speak is devastating. Each of us face the danger of falling into the same place. All it takes a weak will. We all have that weakness ready to jump in like a passing shadow. It only takes a moment.
Do not give sin a chance. Refuse to answer its call.
Death awaits.
Be prepared for what is coming.
